What We Are Watching - May 2025

There is so much going on in cinema and television these past weeks! Between "Sinners" and Marvel's new film, "Thunderbolts", to "The Last of Us" season 2 and the new Star Wars series "Andor", it's an exciting time!

The first film on our list is "Companion", which you can now stream on Max! Amanda's brother recommended this film heavily. Starring Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, this film was a treat!

Sophie Thatcher is at the top of her game with this one, and after watching Herectic, she's been a breakthrough actress in our eyes! The story is original and for someone like Amanda who knew nothing about this film, the plot was a shocker!

There is something for everyone in this film; thrill, suspense, mystery, and surprisingly, lots of humor! We are really big fans of the 1996 hit film, "Fargo", where you laugh, yet you're confused why you're laughing because, let's just say, we felt like we shouldn't be. Nonetheless, it's a great time and so was this film!

I just finished the "White Lotus" series, also on Max. The first season was so good and I couldn't stop watching it, it was hard to turn off the tv and go to bed! The second season was good, and then the third season was slow and I felt like not up to par.

The first season was full of mystery and a sense of unease where you felt like you needed to know what comes next. All the characters have something going on in their lives and you get sucked in to their issues, which is the case with all the seasons. There are some reoccurring characters throughout the series in which their storylines interconnect throughout.

I can see why this show is super popular. It almost feels like a reality show, yet made for dramatic television. Also, the fact that a lot of these characters in each season intertwine with each other at times. As humans, we are drawn to drama and this show takes on that theory.

As mentioned above, "The Last of Us" season 2 has begun and audiences are loving it and after a shocking episode 2 (if you know, you know), it'll be interesting to see how audiences will react to the story moving forward.

We have played the games beforehand so we know what's going to happen, but this television adaption drives the emotional factor home. The cast is absolutely phenomenal and we have to call out Pedro Pascal, and especially, Bella Ramsay for their top notch acting. Episode 2 is referred to "THE episode" and all the cast really delivered. We can NOT wait to see what's next and we will be having an episode on the podcast talking about this series, so stay tuned!

Max has just been the gift that keeps on giving! Yet ANOTHER show to call out is "The Pitt". Amanda is currently bingewatching it and is hooked! It's a typical medical drama, yes, but the cast of doctors and nurses are very relatable to modern times.

There are very heavy themes in this show, so it's not for the faint of heart. There is drama, some dry humor, and the characters are likeable. It's a show where it goes to the place where it would make someone uncomfortable, yet, it's needed because this stuff happens every day.

Moving on from Max to Disney+, Star Wars has a new series out; "Andor" season 2. "Andor" was one of the best series in the Star Wars realm in our opinion and we can't wait to see what happens next!

Season 2 picks up right after the events of season 1 and most of the characters are back. It's truly a classic Star Wars story and worth a watch! We will be covering "Andor" on an upcoming episode, so again, stay tuned!

Lastly, we saw Marvel's newest film, "Thunderbolts" and it was such a great time! It set up some future events for the upcoming MCU movies and the characters were all great. We will be covering this in our next episode coming out this weekend!

This weekend is May 4th aka Star Wars Day! We'd love to hear if you have any plans! Also, let us know your thoughts on any of the above that we covered!
